Fred Strickland

Fred Strickland (1880 - 1956) was active/lived in Oregon, California.  Fred Strickland is known for Landscape painter, wood carver.

Born in Essex, England on Nov. 18, 1880. Strickland was educated in England and immigrated to the U.S. in 1905. After settling in Portland, OR in 1914, he taught at Benson Tech for 27 years. His watercolors and oils include French scenes (done in 1918 while serving in the Canadian army), beach scenes of Venice, CA (done in 1922), and Oregon landscapes. In later years he became known for religious carvings. He died in Portland on Nov. 19, 1956. Exh: San Francisco Art Association, 1908. In: St Mark's Church (Portland).
