Jean Baptiste Santerre (1651 - 1717) was active/lived in France.  Jean Baptiste Santerre is known for Portrait and history paintings, particularly single-figure, half-length paintings of women engaged in various activities.

Jean-Baptiste Santerre was a French portrait and history painter born in 1651 in Magny-en-Vexin, Val-d'Oise. He studied under Bon de Boullogne upon his arrival in Paris and was received at the Académie in 1704 as both a portrait and history painter. He was awarded a pension, studio, and lodgings in the Louvre by King Louis XIV around 1712 and later became Peintre Ordinaire to Philippe II, Duc d’Orléans, Regent of France. Santerre was known for his single-figure, half-length paintings, mostly depicting women engaged in various activities. He died in Paris in 1717.
