Leopold Lowy, Little is known about Leopold Löwy. He came from a Jewish-Austrian industrialist household and surrounded himself with many celebrities of the time in Viennese coffee houses. Löwy was described by his contemporary Josef Krejcik as follows: "Already a pensioner despite his youth! Very fat! Walks summer and winter without overcoat, even without underwear (hardening apostle!). Brilliant cartoonist; dry wit characterizes his speeches, on his good days dangerous even to grandmasters!" The caricatures of his contemporaries were published in various Viennese illustrated magazines. Löwy also illustrated a collection of his own animal fables in 1920.
