Norbert Tadeusz was born 1940 in Dortmund.  He started his education in 1960 at the Werkkunstschule in Dortmund under Gustav Deppe, followed by studies at the Dusseldorf Art Academy under Gerhard Hoehme and Joseph Fassbender.  In 1966 he graduated as a master student of Joseph Beuys. 

After his graduation he held lectureships at the Dusseldorf Art Academy for its department in Münster that eventually resulted in a professorship a little later.  He further lectured as a professor at the State Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe as well as the University of the Arts in Berlin and Braunschweig.
