Peter Bruning (1929 - 1970) was active/lived in Germany.  Peter Bruning is known for Abstract, non-objective painting.

Peter Bruning was born in Dusseldorf, Germanyin 1929.He was a painter and object artist who was one of the initiators, pioneers and sense carriers of the spiritual climate of the 1950's. 

In 1953 Brüning, together with Hoehme, Winfred Gaul, Bernard Schultze and KO Götz formed the "group of artists Niederrhein", which later became "Group 53". 

He is one of the most inventive protagonists of the young German art in the period of change after 1945 and enjoyed one of the most important representatives of German Informel in the 1950's and international reputation. 

Bruning's work has been honored in numerous exhibitions, including several times at the "documenta" (1959, 1964, 1968) in Kassel. From 1969 until his untimely death in 1970, Bruning held a chair for free painting at the Dusseldorf Art Academy.
