Pierre Dunand was the third son of Jean Dunand and joined the family business at the age of seventeen. He was trained in brasswork and lacquerware by craftsmen working in his father's workshops. Pierre Dunand was a skilled designer who promoted his father's work and collaborated with the same decorators and cabinetmakers. He was known for his technical improvements and inventions that he used in furniture productions and monumental creations. He designed the wall decoration for the bridge lounge of the liner La Marseillaise and retouched a number of panels that his father had created for Normandy
