Willard Dixon (Born 1942) is active/lives in California, Kansas, Missouri.  Willard Dixon is known for Coastal landscape, still life.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Willard Dixon became a painter of Northern California coastal landscapes and of still lifes inspired by the Zen meditation that he practices. He began exploring still lifes in the early 1990s, as a way of having more control over the elements in his paintings. He began with tabletop views of fruits and other objects that emphasized the horizontal aspects of the subject and has moved to ever more isolated compositions through which he explores the 'essential nature' of his subjects.

His oil landscapes of monumental scale depict the disappearing open spaces of California, and he paints them "en plein aire", meaning on site. Many of his views of the shoreline and coastal hills of Northern California show idealized reality juxtaposed with signs of modern civilization. As in his still lifes, he imparts a spiritual quality in these paintings.
