Octave Landuyt is a Belgian artist who does painting, sculptures (ceramic and bronze), and jewelry. He also designs household furniture, industrial furniture and decors for television, opera and theater performances.

Landuyt was born on 26 December 1922 in Ghent. Because of the work of his father, the family had to move frequently. They lived in Eeklo ( 1929 ) and Courtrai ( 1931 ). From the clay pits Landuyt took great material to sculpt figures. The large metal objects which ships are anchored along the canal Kortrijk-Bossuyt inspired the forms of would occur typical forms to emerge for many works.

Besides the academic humanities, he took drawing and painting academy of Kortrijk. In 1954 , in Belgium the first Plastic Arts Department was established: Landuyt stood at the beginning of this section at the State Normal School in Gent (now Department of Teacher Education of the University of Ghent ) and became the first teacher.
