Actually Jules Edouard de Magy, French history and landscape painter and Orientalist (1827 Metz to 1878 Marseille). 

He was a student of the Provencal painter Emile Loubon.  He was charged with exhibitions in Nancy and from 1852-76 the Salon des artistes français in Paris.  He was active in Marseilles.
