Smith is known for his symbolist figural sculptures, which convey the nature, principles, and circumstances of his own life experiences. He hopes that others can find connections to their own life experiences through his art. Smith has had a successful career as an illustration artist, foundations instructor at Cottey College, Coordinator of Foundations Courses at UVU Art Department, and as the ceramic teacher Weber School District at Roy High School. His work is represented by Wilde Meyers Galleries in Arizona, with additional representation in Palm Desert, California; Nashville, Tennessee; Boulder, Colorado; and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
