Gaspard De Toursky

Gaspard De Toursky (1849 - 1925) was active/lived in France, Europe.  Gaspard Toursky is known for Orientalist painting scenes of portraits, figures, animals, genre.

A student of the Saint Petersburg Academy, Gaspard De Toursky traveled to Italy, Holland, England, France and finally to the east of Algeria.

He began to study drawing at a very young age with an icon painter, and from the age of 15 he took painting lessons. In 1895 he studied in Saint Petersburg; then in Moscow with Valentin Serov.  In 1866 he went to Munich to study with Ashbee. He traveled to Italy and then to France, which decided him to become a painter, as he had been hesitating between a career as a painter or a writer.

He traveled to North Africa, and in 1908, exhibited work resulting from this trip to Paris. Then he moved to Souk Ahras where he died in 1925.
