Mark Stephen Stock

Mark Stephen Stock (1951 - 2014) was active/lived in California.  Mark Stock is known for Narrative figurative painting, romance and tragedy themes, aviation imagery.

Mark Stock, born in Frankfurt, Germany, was a painter, printmaker and set designer based in California, where he lived and worked in Los Angeles and Oakland. The iconic art images of Mark Stock are lovelorn butlers or servants, and people experiencing romance, loneliness and tragedy.

He was known for his narrative/figurative painting, some of them in the style of Trompe l'oeil. He also did lithographs, etchings, set design, and film noire film making.

Stock apprenticed at Gemini G.E.L. (Graphics Editions Limited) to become a master printer at this workshop and publisher of hand-printed limited edition lithographs, screen prints and etchings.

Stock attended St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida, where his art instructor was James Hagenbuckle. He graduated from the University of South Florida art program and there was a student of Theo Wujcick.
