Mercedes Pardo Ponte (Caracas, Venezuela, July 29, 1921 - March 24, 2005) was a Venezuelan painter, recognized as one of the most prestigious and representative in abstract art Latinamerican, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. She received the Prize National of Plastic Arts, in 1978.

Daughter of Rafael Pardo Becerra and Inés Mercedes Ponte Machado. She was born in La Pastora parish, Caracas Venezuela. Her childhood was spent between her hometown, Isla de Margarita and Los Teques. She studied at the School of Plastic and Applied Arts of Caracas. She lived for several years in Santiago de Chile where she established important relationships with the local artistic scene and pioneered a generation in which women were a minority among painters, especially among abstract creators, she married the Chilean artist Marco Bonta (1899- 1974) in Caracas, resided in Paris.
