Veal's works appear frequently at auctions of Australian art.  He is known for his highly impressionist landscapes and still life, with portraiture rounding out his body of work. 

Veal accomplished much in a relatively short life.  Born in the state of Victoria, Australia, he received art training from Max Meldrum.  By age 24 he had already had his first solo exhibition, and he soon became a teacher himself, as well as, for many years, art critic and overall familiar persona on the Australian contemporary art stage.  In 1951 he moved to London, where he evidently became quite comfortable, moving to Surrey and starting a family.

Solo exhibitions followed in 1962 in New York, and then, Rome in 1965.  Just when he had his first solo Australian exhibition, he passed on, in only his mid-fifties.  Veal's works are held in numerous museums in Australia and   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 3220 characters.]  Artist bio
