Murray M Wax

Murray M. Wax (1928 - 2015) was active/lived in Massachusetts, Minnesota.  Murray Wax is known for Industrial and marine scene painting.

Murray M. Wax was born on July 14, 1929 and educated in Minneapolis, MN. The son of the late David and Celia (Zimmerman) Wax received a BA degree from the University of Minnesota. After graduation he pursued additional study and then moved to New York City where he studied with Joseph Floch and was greatly influenced by Charles Sheeler and Lyonel Feininger.

Murray worked for Edith Halpert at the Downtown Gallery*, the Heisenberg Gallery, and the Forum Gallery, all in New York City.

In 1958, he moved to Provincetown on a part-time basis, moving here full time in the early 1990’s.

Murray worked at the Chrysler Museum (now the Provincetown Public Library) and ran the Provincetown Group Gallery. He also exhibited at the National Academy of Design* in New York and the Provincetown Art Association* among others.

Murray died on December 22nd, 2015 in Provincetown, MA.
