Jerzy Nowosielski

Jerzy Nowosielski (1923 - 2011) was active/lived in Poland.  Jerzy Nowosielski is known for Painting.

In 1940, Jerzy Nowosielski began studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Kraków. From 1944, he became a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was also a member of the Young Artists Group and the Krakow Group.  In the years 1976-92 he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.

Painter, draftsman, stage designer, creator of figural compositions, still lifes, nudes, landscapes and sacred paintings, in which he combined modern elements with the influences of Byzantine art. His unique style is characterized by the use of a flat system of color spots surrounded by a clean contour line and a synthesizing perception of everyday life.

He is the author of numerous polychromes in churches (including the Church of the Holy Spirit in Nowe Tychy, the church in Wesola near Warsaw, the Orthodox church in Lourdes in France) and iconostases (including the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Krakow).
