Adam Styka

Adam Styka (1890 - 1959) was active/lived in New York / Poland, France.  Adam Styka is known for Western and Arab genre, illustrator.

Born in Poland, Adam Styka studied art at the French Academy of Fine Arts, Academie de Beau Arts, and with his artist father, Jan Styka (1858-1925). Among exhibition venues for Adam Styka are the Salon de Paris and Champs Des Elysses.

He graduated from the French Military Academy in Fontainebleau, and then served in the French artillery during the World War I, earning a Cross of Merit and the French "Nationality Citizenship" and a special assistance from the French Government to visit French colonies in Northern Africa.

From these annual journeys, Adam Styka developed a special interest in Middle-Eastern and Oriental themes and devoted his art career to these subjects. He also does paintings of the American Wild West. The last year of his life, 1959, he worked on religious paintings, "The Assumption of Virgin Mary" and "The Ascension of Jesus".
