Alfred Lenica

Alfred Lenica (1899 - 1977) was active/lived in Poland.  Alfred Lenica is known for Figure, still life, landscape, cubism, abstractism, surrealism, painting.

Alfred Lenica was a Polish painter, and the father of Jan Lenica and Danuta Konwicka, as well as the father-in-law of Tadeusz Konwicki. He began his studies in 1922 at the Faculty of Law and Economics of the University of Poznan. In parallel, he studied music at the Music Conservatory.

Lenica deepened his interests in painting by studying at the Private Institute of Fine Arts run by Adam Hannytkiewicz. In the 1930s, Alfred Lenica painted figurative paintings, primarily still lifes and landscapes, inspired by cubism. At the beginning of the war, the Lenic family, displaced from Poznan, went to Kraków.The war was a turning point in the painter's career.

The Krakow artistic community centered around Tadeusz Kantor, and especially the friendship with Jerzy Kujawski, resulted in the painter's deepening interest in the avant-garde. In 1945, Alfred Lenica returned to Poznan, where he became involved in artistic activities. In 1947, he became a co-found   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 19514 characters.]  Artist bio
