Alicja Hohermann was a Polish painter who flourished in the 20th century. Her work had a personal character in the context of the expressive and colorful "style" of the Paris School. She mostly painted female figures dressed in modern period costumes, as well as genre compositions on religious themes. The artistic form of her paintings betrayed the influences of the new figuration that appeared in Europe after World War I, but also of avant-garde trends. Her graceful painting forms are inspired by the fluidity of synthetic cubism shapes in the second decade of the 20th century, and the styling of her works is close to the canvases of Eugeniusz Zak. The presented "Portrait of a Girl" is a charming example of the full style of Hohermann's painting. The model looks mutely into space with a melancholy pattern.
