Anna E Munch

Anna E Munch (1876 - 1960) was active/lived in Denmark.  Anna Munch is known for Painting, religious motif, altarpieces.

Anna Elisabeth Munch grew up in a home inspired by the thoughts of N. F. S. Grundtvig with art and culture as an important part of her upbringing. At the age of thirteen she received lessons in painting from Karl Jensen in 1889 and from 1891–1892 in C. N. Overgaard. After this she undertook a lengthy study tour in Italy and Paris with her mother and sister, accompanied only by a maid servant. She completed the journey in 1894 with months of lessons at Académie Julian under Jean Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. Having returned to Denmark, Munch became a student of Julius Paulsen from 1895 to 1897 studied fresco technique with Joakim Skovgaard in 1909–1910. One of her fields was working with large religious motifs, and she became the first woman to create altarpieces for the Danish church. Over time she revisited France and Italy and traveled extensively to Sweden and Norway.
