Antonio Brugada Vila

Antonio Brugada Vila (1804 - 1863) was active/lived in France.  Antonio Brugada Vila is known for Marine and naval battles.

Antonio de Brugada was a Romantic painter from Madrid, Spain, but of Valencian origin. He was trained at the San Fernando Academy and perfected the genre of marine and naval battles under the guidance of Jean Antoine Théodore de Gudin. Brugada was aligned with the Liberals and had to take refuge in Bordeaux after 1823, together with his friend Francisco de Goya. 

He returned to Spain in 1834 and became the painter to Isabella II from 1844. Brugada participated in the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts and received honorable mentions in 1856 and 1858. In 1892, a painting by Brugada was exhibited in the historical section of the National Exhibition of Fine Arts entitled "Goya's Burial in Bordeaux."
