Bartolomeo Bimbi

Bartolomeo Bimbi (1648 - 1725) was active/lived in Italy.  Bartolomeo Bimbi is known for Still life paintings.

Baldinucci, the celebrated biographer of seicento painters (the 'Vasari of the seventeenth century'), was a great admirer of Bartolomeo Bimbi.  Fifteen years younger than the painter, he wrote a detailed account of Bimbi's life and work only months before the artist's death.  The account is replete both with colourful anecdotes and with valuable information regarding his creative activity. 

Such was Baldinucci's admiration for the painter that he was not afraid to compare him to Raphael or Titian, stating his superiority in painting still lifes: 'Né Tiziano né Raffaello, né alcun pittore del mondo che avesse voluto fare frutte e fiori mai sarebbe arrivato a farli in quelle forme e così bene (Baldinucci, op. cit.).
