Bernhard Huys

Bernhard Huys (1895 - 1973) was active/lived in Germany.  Bernhard Huys is known for Landscape paintings.

Bernhard Huys was born in 1895 in Oesede, Germany as the son of Rector Huys. He studied dentistry in Münster for a semester before serving as a soldier in World War I. After settling down in Worpswede in 1929 and marrying Maria Gruendel in 1931, he began to draw and paint. He received guidance from Otto Modersohn and Fritz Mackensen. His best paintings were created after 1945 and featured landscapes in fog or snow with less gentle color values. He received the Lower Saxony Order of Merit, first class, at the age of 71 for his commitment
