Cesare Biseo

Cesare Biseo (1843 - 1909) was active/lived in Italy.  Cesare Biseo is known for Realistic post-romantic style, Africanist painter.

Cesare Biseo was an Italian painter who was born in an unknown year and was directed by his father towards classical style painting. However, he soon broke away from the classical schemes to adhere to a realistic post-romantic style, focusing on an objective representation aimed at rendering the immediate character of characters, landscapes or historical events.

Biseo was fascinated by the Arab world and participated in the first Italian mission to Morocco in 1875, from which the work Morocco by Edmondo De Amicis derived. He also accompanied De Amicis to Constantinople in 1877. His activity as an "Africanist" painter was highly appreciated throughout his career.

Stylistically, his later works were characterized by a brighter chromatically palette and a looser brushstroke.
