Charles Ewing

Charles Kermit Ewing (1910 - 1976) was active/lived in Tennessee.  Charles Ewing is known for Urban environment, lithographer, mural.

Born in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, Charles Ewing was a painter, teacher, and lithographer who was best known for his expressions of concern for people in urban environments, especially Mexican subjects. He studied at Carnegie-Mellon University, Harvard University, and at the University of Iowa with Jean Charlot. He was a member of art associations in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and New Rochelle and in 1938, exhibited at the National Academy of Design.

He served as art consultant for the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) and taught in the public schools in Pennsylvania, and New York. From 1948 until is retirement, he was head of the art department at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
