Ernest Harrison Barnes

Ernest Harrison Barnes (1873 - 1955) was active/lived in Michigan.  Ernest Barnes is known for Landscape and still life painting, teaching.

Barnes, Ernest Harrison   (1873-1955)

Born in Portland, New York, Ernest Barnes graduated from Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan, and then attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York. He also studied with Will Howe Foote and Henry Rankin Poore at the Old Lyme Art School in Connecticut, and with Charles H. Davies in Mystic, Connecticut. 

The artist joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1915 where he taught until his retirement in 1943. He was a regular exhibitor at the Detroit Institute of Art. Barnes also exhibited at the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Boston Art Club, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, and the Corcoran Biennial.
