Ernst Moritz Geyger

Ernst Moritz Geyger (1861 - 1941) was active/lived in Germany.  Ernst Geyger is known for Sculpture.

Ernst Moritz Geyger was born in 1861, in Berlin.  He was a sculptor, medalist, painter, engraver, and etcher. 

From 1877-78, he was in a student painting class at the art school in Berlin.  From 1878-84, he studied at the Berlin academy under Paul Thumann, Otto Knille, Max Michael, and Paul Meyerheim.  He then worked as a freelance painter.  From 1886, he was autodidactic, and turned to etching. 

In 1888, the artist started in sculpture.  This undertook studies in Berlin with Hans Meyer and Florence.  In 1893, the artist briefly worked as a professor at the Dresden Academy.  After just five months, he left Dresden and went to Paris.

In 1895, he moved to Florence, where he established a workshop in Berlin.  Initially, the artist created mainly animal sculptures.  In 1895, he created the larger than life naked youth figure of archers, which was erected in Potsdam / Sanssouci.  One copy followed in 1902 at   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1215 characters.]  Artist bio
