Fay Chong

Fay Chong was born in Canton, China and emigrated to the United States where he attended the University of Washington in Seattle. He studied privately with Leon Derbyshire and Mark Tobey. He was a member of the Northwest Printmakers, the Northwest Watercolor Society, Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters and the Washington Art Association.

Chong was part of Seattle's WPA Federal Art Project and produced numerous paintings and linocuts for the project. He was also the Designer for the University of Washington's Applied Physics Laboratory for thirteen years and taught art at several Seattle schools. His work is in several national collections including: Seattle Art Museum, Phillips Memorial Art Gallery, Washington, DC., Baltimore Museum, University of Michigan Museum of Art, Wolfsonian Museum, Miami, FL.,Library of Congress and several others.
