Felipe Santamans

Felipe Santamans (Born 1951) is active/lives in Spain.  Felipe Santamans is known for Classical style, oil and pastel medium, figures, portraits, landscapes, interiors, and still lifes..

Felipe Santamans is a Spanish painter known for his classical style and mastery of both oil and pastel mediums. He is considered one of the best pastelists in Spain today. Santamans began studying art at a young age and worked with famous pastelist Benjamín Suria at the age of fourteen. He continued his formal training at the Barrera Academy in Valencia, the School of Fine Arts, and the Fuster Academy. In 1968, he met painter José Espert, whom he considers his true master. Santamans made his debut in a group exhibition the following year and soon abandoned oil painting to concentrate on pastels. His work shows continuity with classical styles, within a personal renovation. His paintings are intimate, rich in expressiveness, and dominated by warm tones and subtle light work. He is currently represented in collections in Europe, South America, and the United States.
