Georg Anton Rasmussen

Georg Anton Rasmussen (1842 - 1914) was active/lived in Norway, Germany.  Georg Rasmussen is known for Fjords and landscape paintings.

Georg Anton Rasmussen (1842-1914), a Norwegian landscape painter, captured the special mood, atmosphere, light and nature of the light-flooded fjord. Rasmussen first learned from Anders Askevold in Bergen before studying with Oswald Achenbach at the Düsseldorf Academy from 1864 to 1867, where he was also influenced by Hans Fredrik Gude.

Alongside Askevold, Gude and Adelsteen Normann, he became one of the best and most creative painters of Norwegian fjord landscapes, and with this he celebrated his greatest successes in Germany. Even after his studies he stayed in Düsseldorf and became a member of the local artists' association Malkasten.

It was not until 1899 that he moved to Berlin. He regularly spent the summer months in his home country, where he studied the motifs for his ever new fjord landscapes.
