Giulio Carpioni

Giulio Carpioni (1611/13 - 1678) was active/lived in Italy.  Giulio Carpioni is known for Painting and sculpture.

Giulio Carpioni was an Italian painter and etcher. He was apprenticed to Alessandro Varotari in Venice and was influenced by Simone Cantarini and Pietro Testa. In 1638, Carpioni settled in Vicenza, where he carried out numerous commissions for altarpieces and decorative paintings in churches, the local Palazzo della Ragione, and the residences of local patricians. Carpioni was also a talented and prolific etcher, whose oeuvre consists primarily of religious and mythological subjects, which are treated in a light, relaxed style.
