Graham Nickson

Graham Nickson (Born 1946) is active/lives in New York / England.  Graham Nickson is known for Mod genre and abstract panoramic landscape painting.

Born in Lancashire, England, Graham Nickson is an artist whose paintings combine realism and abstraction and have jarringly luminous and bold colors, intended to 'shout' as opposed to soothe.  His mediums include gouache, watercolor, acrylic and charcoal, and his primary subjects are abstract panoramic landscapes, often with abstract figures.

In 1972, he received a diploma from the Royal College of Art in London, and then spent two years in Rome at the British School, having won a Prix de Rome.  By 1976, he had moved to New York City, establishing his studio there and gaining gallery representation.

In the spring of 2007, the Lillehammer Art Museum in Norway had a survey exhibition of his painting, and in November 2007, the Art Museum of Naples, Florida will feature his work.
