Hendrik Maarten Krabbe

Hendrik Maarten Krabbe (1868 - 1931) was active/lived in New Jersey / Netherlands.  Hendrik Krabbe is known for Painting.

Hendrik Maarten Krabbé, born Heinrich Martin Krabbe (London, May 4, 1868 - Amsterdam, December 22, 1931)

Between 1883 and 1888 he attended the School of Applied Art and the Royal Academy in Amsterdam where he studied drawing, painting, watercolor painting but was also etching and lithography.  He lived in Amsterdam and later briefly in Bussum until 1900.

After his studies, he started working as a teacher at the School of Applied Arts in Haarlem.  A number of his students like A. W. Short, Ina van Heck and Charles Beck would also later become well known artists.  During these years he lived in Amsterdam in Watergraafsmeer.

In 1906  he worked mainly as an artist and lived in the artists' colony in Laren where he had a studio on the Zevenenderweg.  From 1916 to 1923 he lived in Bussum and in later years until his death in Amsterdam again.  He also lived for nearly a year as part of a study arrangement in Chicago in 1920.
