Janus Kubicek

Janus Kubicek (1921 - 1993) was active/lived in Czech Republic.  Janus Kubicek is known for Painting.

Artist Janus Kubicek lived from 1921 - 1993. Jan Kubícek was one of the most radical central European promoters of constructivist and concrete art. He is also one the most significant promoters of Czech constructivism alongside Zdenek Sýkora, Karel Malich and Hugo Demartin. Kubicek substantially influenced Czech post-war art several times. At the turn of the 1960's his paintings were an antithesis to the 'dark' tones of structural abstraction. Subsequently, from 1962 to 1966, he participated in the formation of the Czech form of the international Lettrism movement. From 1967 Kubícek was one of the key figures of neo-constructivist tendencies, and he continued to develop his original geometric program until the end of his life. The characteristic features of Kubícek's works of Lettrism and geometric abstraction are a sense of order, an absence of literary contents and a precise painting technique.
