Jerzy Karszniewicz

Jerzy Karszniewicz (1878 - 1945) was active/lived in Poland.  Jerzy Karszniewicz is known for Painting.

Jerzy Karszniewicz was born in 1878 in Poland.

In the years 1895-1901 Karszniewicz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow with Florian Cynek, Jacek Malczewski and Józef Mehoffer. He studied landscape painting in the studio of Jan Stanislawski, who greatly influenced his work. He completed his painting education in Paris at Jean Gerome's École des Beaux-Arts.

Karszniewicz lived and worked in Kraków, and also in Janówka near Wieliczka. From 1903, he exhibited most often at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow, as well as at the Zacheta Gallery in Warsaw.

He belonged to the group Jednoróg (from 1929), with which he also exhibited. He painted figural compositions, flowers, portraits, but most often small landscapes from the vicinity of Krakow and Wieliczka, as Tadeusz Dobrowolski wrote, "defined by a wide and soft spot, bright and transparent in color".

Jerzy Karszniewicz passed away in 1945.
