Johann Friedrich Hennings was a German painter who studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf under Oswald Achenbach, a renowned landscape painter. He focused on landscape and genre scenes and went on study trips to Italy. He lived in Munich from 1861 onwards and painted numerous motifs from the city and surrounding places. His paintings often depicted summer forest landscapes with gentlemen dressed in rococo costumes and Venice with its canals and palaces
