John Crosman

John Henry Crosman (c. 1898 - 1970) was active/lived in Massachusetts.  John Crosman is known for Illustration, genre-figure, portrait paintings.

John H. Crosman specialized in illustrations in prominent magazines such as McCall's and the Saturday Evening Post during the late 20's, 30's and 40's.  At that point, he mostly transformed his work into oil portraits and still lifes.  His Beach Plumb paintings remain some his very best work!  During World War II he often did pastel portraits of service men and women and presented them to their families.Crosman was born on or about 1898, and made his home in Orleans, Massachusettes where he lived in a modest house right on Cape Cod Bay.  He had a separatestudio where he worked on his oil portraits and still lives.  Prior to around 1960 he also occupied a studio in the city of Boston and commuted between there and the Cape.
