Karl Lansing

Karl Lansing (20th century) was active/lived in Canada.  Karl Lansing is known for Sculptor-wildlife.

While working at a mine in the Kootney Region of British Columbia, Karl Lansing drew on the back of his timecards. After turning these in, his boss would save them because he liked the drawings so much. Lansing was unaware of this and just drew for fun. Many noticed his talents and encouraged him to develop these to pursue a career as an artist. Lansing did not listen.

Until he was apart of a huge layoff in the early 1990s at the mine. Lansing and his wife, Louise, decided he should try a career as an artist. He began with woodcarvings and showed them at local galleries, these sold immediately. Gallery owners encouraged him to try working in bronzes. As he moved into sculpting, Lansing decided to put this knowledge to use, creating realistic and detailed pieces.
