Leah I Rinne Hamilton

Leah I Rinne Hamilton (1906 - 1960) was active/lived in California / Finland.  Leah Hamilton is known for Mod or surreal townscape, non ob.

Born in Finland on Oct. 15, 1906. Leah Rinne immigrated to California in 1921. After receiving an M.A. degree from UC Berkeley, she traveled and studied in Europe. From 1930-42 she was a teacher at Dominican College in San Rafael, CA. Her married name was Hamilton by the mid-1930s. Most of her career was spent in San Francisco; she died in Oakland on July 4, 1960. Member: Calif. WC Society; SFAA (vice-pres.); SF Women Artists (pres.). Exh: Oakland Art Gallery, 1932; SFMA, 1935-58 (prizes); San Francisco Art Association, 1937-42 (medal); AIC, 1939; Foundation of Western Art (LA), 1939-43; GGIE, 1940; Faulkner Art Gallery (Santa Barbara), 1941; AIC, 1941; CGA, 1943; CPLH, 1945, 1946, 1952; City of Paris (SF), 1946; Calif.
