Mark Rohrig is a surrealist/realist painter who is inspired by the mystical nobility of the Native American culture.  Born in 1955 in Grand Junction, Colorado, Mark Rohrig showed talent at an early age.  He is self-taught except for some tutoring from a middle school teacher and a few classes at Mesa State College.

Rohrig's artwork is a reflection of life experience and perseverance that forges a common bond between him and Native Americans.  He has been creating his signature images of Native Americans since 1975, and he continues to be inspired by the nobility of their spirit.  Even so, the artist does not consider himself to be an authority on Native Americans as he notes, "I don't paint specific Indians - I'm not trying to copy history. I'm just using history for inspiration and as a point of departure."
