Mehmet Gun

Mehmet Gun (1956 - 2014) was active/lived in Turkey.  Mehmet Gun is known for Painting.

Born in Istanbul, Mehmet Gün moved to Vienna at the age of 16, where he later studied painting and philosophy at the Academy of Fine Arts.  In 1978 he had his first solo exhibition in Vienna.  For a period of time he lived in New York.  Here he devoted himself mainly to photography.

In the 1990s, Gün published several essays and worked with sound installations and video art.  He participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy, France, New York and Berlin.  Gün lived and worked in Berlin, where he was also known as Dennis Gün.  Works by the artist are held at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York and Istanbul Modern. (tfa)
