Ottilie Wilhelmine Roederstein

Ottilie Wilhelmine Roederstein (1859 - 1937) was active/lived in Switzerland.  Ottilie Roederstein is known for Portrait and still life painting.

Ottilie Roederstein was born in Zurich and began her artistic training under Eduard Pfyffer (1836-1899).  Driven by the need for further education, Roederstein followed her sister to Berlin around 1879, where she attended the class of Karl Gussow (1843-1907) at the Berlin Academy.  In 1881 she decided to move to Paris, where she met artists like Käthe Kollwitz, Louise Breslau and Maurice de Vlaminck.

In 1890 she finally became a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.  Although she established herself in Frankfurt am Main in 1890, she was regularly represented at the Paris Salon since 1883.  In Frankfurt, however, she was soon connected with protagonists such as Ludwig Meidner, Karl Schmitt-Rottluff and Alexej von Jawlensky.
