Phillip Brown Parsons

Phillip Brown Parsons (1895 - 1977) was active/lived in Illinois, Florida.  Phillip Parsons is known for Genre-sporting painting and magazine cover illustration art.

Philip Brown Parsons was born in West Medford, Massachusetts in 1896. He attended the Boston School of Painting and the Child-Walker School of Art in Boston, and studied with Howard Smith and William Frederick Foster, both former pupils of Howard Pyle.

Parsons did innumerable covers and illustrations for 4-H Horizons, National Sportsman, Hunting and Fishing, Outdoors and other sportsman publications. He did several covers for Youth's Companion including their very last cover. He illustrated numerous books and magazines including Yankee and the cover of the 1972 L. L. Bean Catalog.

Parsons' other work includes calendars for Remington Guns, jigsaw puzzle pictures, Colt Firearms booklet cover, textbook illustrations for Houghlin-Mifflin and Little Brown, drawings for The Boston Evening Transcript, illustrations for Parker Brothers games, and note cards for Colonial Williamsburg.
