Ralph Taylor

Ralph Taylor (1896/97 - 1978) was active/lived in Pennsylvania / Russian Federation.  Ralph Taylor is known for Modernist landscape, still life and figure painting.

Ralph Taylor was a painter, printmaker and teacher. He was born in Russia and had addresses in Philadelphia, PA. He studied at the Graphic Sketch Club; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art with Henry Mc Carter; also in Italy, France and England. He was a member of the Philadelphia Art Alliance; Philadelphia Print Club; Philadelphia Graphic Sketch Club; and Alliance of American Artists.

He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy Annual from 1921-1929, 1949; PAFA (Mary Butler Memorial Prize for Concert, 1954); Corcoran Gallery Biennial, 1923; Philadelphia Art Club, 1928; Bower Gallery, N.Y., 1930 (solo); Woodmere Art Gallery; and many others.

He won the Da Vinci Gold Medal in 1959 for City at Night, and the Philadelphia Art Alliance award in 1963 for Animated Conversation.

His work is in the Fleisher Art Memorial; La France Art Institute; PAFA; Graphic Sketch Club. His preferred media was oil.
