Richard Phillips

Richard Phillips (Born 1962) is active/lives in New York, Massachusetts.  Richard Phillips is known for Large-size realistic portrait painting, charcoal close-ups.

Richard Phillips is a Pop Art-related painter known for his oversized head portraits, especially of women, and up to 90 to 100 inches in size. He has culled these images from the pages of 1970s fashion photography magazines and chose this subject to represent the "last radical moment in fashion photography."

He was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, in 1962 and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Massachusetts College of Art, North Adams, in 1984; his Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Yale University School of Art, New Haven, Connecticut, in 1986. He now lives and works in New York City.
