Theodore Antoine Tscharner

Theodore Antoine Tscharner (1826 - 1906) was active/lived in California / Belgium.  Theodore Tscharner is known for Land-and seascape, portrait and figure painting.

Born in Namur, Belgium on Feb. 14, 1826, T'Scharner arrived in San Francisco aboard the ship Uncas in late 1850 and, while there, did a series of 40 drawings and watercolors of miners, Indians, and scenes of San Francisco.   He was active there until 1853 and then returned to his native land.

He died in Furnes, Belgium on Oct. 30, 1906.
