Virginia Tillou

Virginia Tillou (1906 - 1995) was active/lived in New York.  Virginia Tillou is known for Portrait, still life, abstract and mural painting.

Virginia Tillou (nee Eller) was born in Centerville, Pennsylvania and was raised in Buffalo. In the late 1920s she studied at the Buffalo Fine
Arts Academy and the Provincetown Summer School of Art in Massachusetts. Her teachers included Edwin Dickinson, Dr. William
Hekking, and Seymour Drumlevitch.

She formed a loose artistic association with a Buffalo-based group who called themselves the Oakland Artists. The group included
Charlotte Albright, Grace McKendry, Nancy Jewett, and Elizabeth Tower.

Tillou exhibited several times at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and in 1985 was honored with a one-woman show at the Burchfield Art
Center (now the Burchfield-Penney Art Center).
