Vollian Rann

Vollian Burr Rann (1897 - 1956) was active/lived in Massachusetts, North Carolina.  Vollian Rann is known for Figure, portrait and landscape painting, woodblock prints.

Vollian Burr Rann was a painter and print maker, active in Provincetown, Massachusetts. He is most noted for colorful seascapes and landscapes of Cape Cod in an impressionist* style, and he also painted portraits of prominent citizens. He was known to have worked in oils, watercolors and wood block prints. He became a prominent member of the Provincetown art colony in the 1920's and spent most of the rest of his career there.

He was a member of the Provincetown Art Association*, serving on many juries and was elected an honorary Vice President. His work is in the permanent collection of the Provincetown Art Association Museum and the collection of the Town of Provincetown.

Rann arrived in Provincetown in the early part of the 20th century to study with Charles Hawthorne. He had also studied at the National Academy of Design* and the Corcoran School* in Washington DC.
