William Hyams (1878-1952)

Born in Portsmouth, but spent his childhood in Guernsey.  Studied at Brighton School of Art. Spent some years at sea which gave him the opportunity to paint marine subjects.   Exhibited at the R.A., R.I., in the provinces, and abroad. Represented in Brighton and Hove Art Galleries. Painted many Sussex scenes, and was Chairman of the Brighton Arts Club in 1947.
