William F. Tull (1924-2000)

Born in Normal, Illinois, he studied art (including two years of architecture) at the University of Illinois.  As an adult, he settled in Arizona.  He was an advertising executive and an artist before becoming an architectural designer and builder of adobe homes.  His designs incorporated Pueblo, Moorish and Territorial influences, and often featured handcrafted elements such as carved corbels, decorative tin cabinet fronts and stained glass.

Biography from the Archives of askART

A southwest contemporary artist and designer, he moved to Arizona in 1961 to devote full time to his painting and architecture.  Bill started formal training at the age of 8 in Champaign, Illinois.  He studied Fine and Applied Art at the University of Illinois and Milliken University.  In his architectural career, he specialized in Pueblo style homes and his painting and buildings belong to the earth he loved.
